Music now available:

Lachrymae Pavan Number 2 in William Tisdale's Virginal Book
Lachrymae Pavan Number 9 in William Tisdale's Virginal Book, set by  William Randall.
The manuscript now known as "William Tisdale's Virginal Book is one of two books bound for Dr John Bull in around 1600.

It is now held in the Fitzwilliam Museum in Cambridge,

The manuscript contains a strange mixture of pieces; near the middle is a section of 24 pages of keyboard music, — mainly Pavanes , Galliards and Corantos. Six are anonymous, three are by Thomas Morley, two by William Byrd, one by Lassus, one by Robert Johnson, and two by Tisdale himself. There is an excellent modern edition of the full set of 21 pieces published by Stainer and Bell as Tisdale's Virginal Book (editor Alan Brown) in their Early Keyboard music Collection.l

Among the other keyboard pieces are two  transcriptions of John Dowlamd's Lachrymae Pavane.  The first transcription (now available on this site) does not name a transcriber.  It is a straightforward setting, without varied repeats.   The second is more elaborate, and the transcriber  is named as William Randall.
