John ALLCOCK 1715 1806 |
|
.
John ALLCOCK was an Eighteenth Century musician. In 1741 he published a set of Six Suites or easy Lessons for the Harpsichord or Spinnet. At this time he was organist of St Andrews Churh, Plymouth. Shortly afterwards he became organist of Lichfield Cathedral, where he remained for many years.
The six suites are well-written in the style of the period, with flowing melodic lines and some original touches. All six of them are now available on this site.
So far I have not been able to find a portrait of John Allcock, and so I have substituted a picture of Lichfield Cathedral.
